Nearing the Top? – TBG Update 5/28/2020

On Monday, Memorial Day, I decided to support a local business and order take-out for dinner. I love that restaurant when it’s open; the take-out food on Monday was terrible. In a restaurant, their food is piping hot and perfectly fresh and the textures and sights are a treat. In a take-out container, the food was soggy and sitting in juices and it was cold and congealed. I feel for restaurant owners during this time. It will be such a treat to go back to supporting all the restaurant businesses when we’re able.

Our office is on Rosewood and Martel. The city shut down Rosewood and opened it up to pedestrians and bikers. Sitting at my office, I see a park outside my window as all the little kids bike and scooter down the street. There’s something intriguing about shutting down our roads where cars drive and turning it into a playground instead.

I went to buy my kid her first bike this week. The bike store said bikes will be hard to buy for the next two years as the bike manufacturers struggle to create enough supply for all the demand. It was a two hour wait to get into the bike store and a four hour total experience. The phone in the store was off the hook because they can’t fill all the requests for bikes anyway so they’re not answering their phone. We were super lucky to walk out with a bike.

We listed 300 N June this week and it got multiple offers right away. There are 5 showings scheduled for Sunday; we didn’t accept an offer yet. Houses that get the most interest are those that have great outdoor space where people want to spend their time during Corona. The outdoor space at 300 N June is perfectly magical and so it makes sense that people want to buy that house right now. It’s fun to see excited owners – more so during Corona.

As we do more and more Corona time, I feel the people are changing along with the world. Restaurants closed means more organic cooking at home. Streets closed means more walking and talking and moving at a slower pace. Biking means getting air and breathing and being in nature. It’s been hard and long but going in the direction of a slower, more wholesome, more organic world is a worthwhile journey. It’s been an arduous climb but it feels like we’re kind of nearing the top of a mountain.

Have an awesome weekend!

Xoxoxo,
Sheri
